Andrzej Dybowski is a Polish game developer who worked for 4A Games as a Senior Concept Artist, having created content for Metro Exodus and Arktika.1 in years 2016-2018.

Career[]

Previously he has worked on a number of Polish games: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine, Dying Light, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, Layers of Fear, Observer, and Medium.

The following companies have been his clients: CD Projekt RED, 4A Games, Axis Animation, Techland, Netflix, Volta, Sauvage.tv, Lamppost VFX, Tigrelab, Bloober Team, DailyMagic, 7Levels, Chimney Pot, ShareCreators, and Serialify. He specialises in environment design, character design, visual development, art direction, storyboard, illustration.

Andrzej uses only Photoshop and no other software in his work, and even then he supports himself with photos only slightly as he likes to explore the creative process and wants to preserve the "painterly" look of the image.

Early life[]

Dybowski's mother is an architect and his brother is a director of photography, both of which he has attributed as contributing to his love for art - as most of his family consists of artists. He grew up in the picturesque city of Sopot, by the Baltic sea, which borders one of the biggest cities in Poland, Gdanśk. Throughout his child he travelled with his family around the world; he credits these travels with helping him develop his imagination.

He studied at the Gdańsk University of Technology, where he graduated in Master of Architecture (M.Arch.). Before being employed in the gaming industry, he received a certificate in digital painting from CGMA 2D Academy.

  • Although the studio is originally from Ukraine, with a second office in Malta, 4A Games actually employs a number of Poles also. Besides Dybowski, there are Bartosz Guder, Aleksandra Rydel, and Bartek Rydel - to name a few.
