The deer (Russian: олень, Polish: jeleń) is a hoofed mammal that lives in the wilds of Eurasia. They appear in various stories from the Universe of Metro 2033 and in Metro Exodus.
Overview[]
Most of the deer inhabiting the wild areas of Poland and Russia seem to have survived with little to no mutation, which is probably due to their preferred habitat being away from large cities and other human settlements likely to have been targeted during the nuclear war. As such, deer have managed to avoid most of the radiation. They remain mostly harmless towards humans, as they are a herbivore species that have been an important source of food for humanity since the times of the early hominids.
