Metro 2033: From the Depths is the second novel by Ruslan Melnikov, written as part of the Metro 2033 universe and the Hidden Fears duology. Released in September 2013, this is the fortieth book of the series.
Synopsis[]
According to the plot of this novel, World War III destroyed not only the material world, but also the spiritual world. People who have lived for 20 years at a military facility, are trying to reach Moscow underground and locate fellow survivors. However, they must endure the horrors of a post-apocalyptic underground world.
Interesting Facts[]
- Although this novel is related to Murancha and is included with it in the same duology, the book is entirely an independent story.
- At first, Ruslan Melnikov had plans to continue Murancha, by describing the western part of the city and the subway.
- The second novel, after Below Hell, implementing the theme of the Russian government surviving in Siberia.
- The Doppelgangers theory is introduced, which is very complicated and confusing, but explains where the subway came from in Rostov-on-Don.
- Various myths about the underworld are used.
- The plot twist in the novel is more than unexpected and rather mystical.
- Included in the first off-cycle set Myths of the Apocalypse.
