Metro 2033: Guardian Demon is the third novel by Olga Shvetsova, written as part of the Metro 2033 universe and the Heroes of Our Time trilogy. The seventy-fifth book in the series, this novel was originally supposed to be released in August 2016, but due to the six month freeze of the Russian-language series it was not published until February 2017.
Creating a novel[]
Originally, Guardian Demon was the third part of No Man's Land, but due to the fact that the time of action was far beyond the permitted limits, this part had to be removed from the text of the novel. After that, Olga worked on Guardian Demon without the prospect of publication and posted the finished chapters on the Net. In 2016, Vyacheslav Bakulin managed to persuade Dmitry Glukhovsky to allow Olga to release the third part, despite the fact that it's 2034. Due to the fact that most of the action of Guardian Demon takes place in the vicinity of Zhukovsky and does not contradict the events told in Metro 2035, Dmitry gave it the "green light" edition.
The book was scheduled to come out in August 2016, but the Russian-language series was frozen, and the release date was postponed several times until a new and final one was set: February 2017. Thus, Guardian Demon was honored not only to be the 75th book in the series, but also to open the Metro 2033 Universe series after the thaw.
Synopsis[]
In the world after the Great Shoah, angels are becoming rarer and rarer, but there is no shortage of their antipodes. The stranger found in a forest near Moscow is also no exception to this rule. He is cunning, audacious, cruel, fearless, and almost amoral. He doesn't give a penny for human life and is capable of anything to achieve his goal. In addition, the former Gatekeeper Alexei Kolmogorov has nothing to lose - he has already stepped into the valley of the shadow of death and not afraid of evil. However, is it not because he himself - evil? But then why behind the back of this demon guardian becomes calmer and fear disappears?

For other authors - and for Olga in the future, should she decide to write a new novel - the restriction remains: the entire year 2033, plus January 2034.
