The hare (Russian: заяц, Polish: zając) is a small and fast moving mammal that lives in the wilds of Europe and parts of Asia. They appear in various stories from the Universe of Metro 2033 and in Metro Exodus.
Overview
Like the deer, most of the hares inhabiting the wild areas of Poland and Russia seem to have survived with little to no mutation, which is probably due to their preferred habitat being away from large cities and other human settlements likely to have been targeted during the nuclear war. As such, hares have managed to avoid most of the radiation. They remain harmless towards humans, as they are an herbivorous species that flees upon contact with larger animals in the wild.
