Kazakhstan was the second largest country by land area in the former Soviet Union and the ninth largest in the world. During the Last War, its cities were presumably bombed like most cities in the CIS, though probably not as heavily as Russian cities. Parts of the country have experienced desertification, and the population in these areas has regressed to a tribal state in only a few years. Unfortunately, this made them an easy target for slavers, particularly the Munai-bailer. Other parts have retained their climate, but only thanks to a dam that blocked off radioactive sediment. The dam is on the brink of collapse, meaning that this region is living on borrowed time.
