Metro 2033: Leshy Never Die is the second novel by Igor Osipov, written as part of the Metro 2033 universe and the Smolensk Paradise duology. The sixty-fourth book of the series, Osipov's novel takes place in Smolensk and on the road towards Dukhovschina.
Synopsis[]
They say that one man is not a warrior in the field. Except that the entire life of a GRU, special forces soldier, is a complete contradiction of this proverb. Especially if his nickname is Leshy. Especially if the nuclear inferno has forever changed the history of human civilization. But you have to go on living. And most importantly, you must day after day to do what the best Russian officer knows how to do - to protect the weak and serve those who believe in him. Think neither of rewards, nor of power, nor even of death. Especially not death. After all, the Leshy never dies.

- Leshy refers not to the Slavic spirit of the forest, but the call sign of one of the main characters. And the title as a whole is a fable of Leshy.
- The story about Leshy grew out of the short story "I'm Home", which was included in the book as a prologue.
- The nickname Leshy was given in honor of Igor Osipov's childhood friend, Alexei Orekhov.
- There are major flashbacks throughout the novel, but here they are not highlighted in separate paragraphs, with two of them telling about the actions of the Russian military in Africa before World War III.
- As with the previous novel, Igor Osipov made his own sketch, in which he depicts a monument to Grigory Potemkin surounded by jellyfish.
