Ruslan (Russian: Руслан) is a Caucasian prisoner detained in the Fourth Reich in the novel Metro 2033.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Artyom meets Ruslan in a jail in Tverskaya, where they talk about each other's lives. There Artyom learns that Ruslan had a brother named Ahmed who was shot upon approaching the Reich. Later, Artyom is taken from his prison cell and Ruslan bids Artyom a farewell. It is unknown what happened to Ruslan afterwards; it is possible that he was rescued by the Trotskiyist-Chegavorites, escaped to the Arbat Confederation and reunited with his family.

  • It is from Ruslan for the first time that one can learn that the stations of the Arbat Confederation are mainly inhabited by Caucasians.
