Metro 2033: The Last Refuge is the first collection of short stories by various authors in the series edited by Dmitry Glukhovsky, written as part of the Metro 2033 universe. This is the twenty-first book in the series.

- The book includes fifteen short stories by newcomers.
- The yellow stripes on the cover did not appear immediately. They were not present in the original version, and the caption "Collected short stories" hides beneath them.
- Dmitry Glukhovsky wrote the bonus story "The Gospel Accordting to Artyom", later included in the reprints of Metro 2033 as an epilogue.
- "Artyom's Gospel" exists in comic book form as part of the advertising campaign for the game Metro: Last Light.
- "Artyom's Gospel" has already been translated into several languages, including English, German, and Polish.
- Five debutants have later released novels of their own, and two more have returned to the series in a third collection of short stories.
- The anthology has been translated into Hungarian.
