Synopsis[]
Something terrible breaks free and hangs over the city of Novosibirsk, becoming a threat not just to the city itself, but to the entire planet. The protagonist of the story, Sergei Kasarin of the Novosibirsk Metro, has to take advantage of - as the name of the book tells - the only chance that humanity has left to see the sun again.
As Kasarin and his fellow travellers manage to establish, the threat takes the form of genetically modified black mold; this strange substance absorbs, kills, and recycles any living organisms it comes into contact with. The main characters of the book try to prevent the complete death of Novosibirsk as a result of the expanding influence of this deadly mold.
